Several years ago, I wrote a post to honor my dad Vernon. I shared the story of his time in Korea. I did my best to share his heroism with my readers. I wanted the world to know what an amazing man the simple farmer from Kansas truly was. I wanted to honor my hero. This past week, I lost my "other" dad. My father-in-law, Keith, passed from this life to the next. It has been a difficult time, to say the least. Let me introduce the man who became Dad Johnson to me almost 36 years ago. I briefly met my husband's family on our college campus. Little did I know that two years later, I would again be introduced to them, but this time as their son's girl friend. These people are protesting this man because he's a veteran?
Because he fought to free people from a wicked communist regime that would have squashed the likes of Fred Phelps and co. without even thinking about it?
Because he happened to live in Greensburg and was kiled by a tornado?
Because Greensburg, as everyone knows, is such a haven of abominable sin that God needed to wipe it out with a tornado (Not!) while leaving places like San Franciso and New York untouched?
I really don't see the point here.
If Fred Phelps believes an iota of Scripture then he should give some prayerful reflection to the fact that we will be judged with the judgment that we meted out to others. One wonders, then, what atrocities await his funeral, or the judgment immediately following.
